MISSION STATEMENT
In partnership with family and community, the mission of Curlew School District
is to provide a supportive environment where all students are empowered to
develop the knowledge, qualities and skills needed to achieve individual success
in a changing world.
STRATEGIC GOALS
- We will provide quality education to meet individual
developmental needs of all students.
- We will provide a safe and supportive environment for
students and staff.
- By encouraging community involvement (by parents, the
general community, and retirees) and developing partnerships we will enhance
student achievement.
- We will implement the use of leading edge technology
to enhance student learning.
- We will provide effective and innovative financial
management, facilities, and equipment to support student achievement.
- The administration will be responsible for development
and implementation of an annual school improvement plan encompassing these
strategic goals.

Goal: All students will meet

Increase communication and collaboration between 9-12 teachers by
developing cross-curricular projects (one per quarter) – not necessarily

give ASB our support to pursue achieving rule changes – notably dress code
enforcement & food and drink in the classroom

CURLEW SCHOOL DISTRICT ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ACTIVITIES
- In
October of 2007 the Office of the Superintend of Public Instruction
recognized Curlew Middle School as a School of Distinction. This award is
based on the improvement over the past six years in our students’ WASL
scores. This award was given to only the top 5% of schools in the state.
- US
News & World Report awarded Curlew High School a Bronze award for its
overall student achievement and efforts to prepare students for college.
This puts us in the top 1,500 high schools in the entire country.

Started a new preschool that allows any child that meets the age
requirements to attend all day preschool at Curlew School.
- Implemented Navigation 101 in our
advisory class grades 6-12
- Completed Student-Led Conferences
in Fall and Spring
- Successful AP English Test – 14
out 21 students earned at least a 2 (11 earned a 2 allowing them to petition
for credit & 3 earned a 3 allowing them to earn college credit)
- Offering 5 AP (advanced
placement) classes this year: Environmental Science, Statistics, Physics,
English, and Calculus
- 88% (14/16) of students passed
the writing portion of the 10th grade WASL
- Our girl’s softball team won the
State B Softball Championship.
- Four of our high school teams
plus several students in Track and Field competed in state competition.
- Our girls track team and cheer
team won State Academic Championships.

Curlew School Board has approved a ratio of 90 to 1 for ALE programs when
appropriate.
FACILITY USE & CONDITION
Curlew School District is committed to providing our students,
staff and the community with an effective facility to meet the goals outlined by
the school board and by the Curlew School community. The facility has 67,000
square feet of space in a main school building, music building, school shop/bus
garage, and several equipment storage buildings. The 44.11 acres of grounds
contains, in addition to the main buildings, a softball field, baseball field,
football field, community softball field, and tennis court. We are focused on
maintaining our facility so that we can use it for many years to come, and are
working on replacing the boiler and HVAC system.
