REGULAR MEETING
CALL MEETING TO
ORDER
Brad Miller called the meeting to order at 4:37 p.m. Present --- Steve
McCullough, Brad Miller, Jon Newman, Harold Strandberg, Gretchen Halbach, Jan
Stephens, Brett Simpson, Terrie Morrison, Laurel Scott, Angel Glenwinkle and
Brice Zerck.
ADDITIONS AND DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA
Add: Business: Volunteer Coaches, New Insurance Broker,
Policy: First reading policy #2410 – High School Graduation Requirements,
Discussion: Election of Officers, Stonerose
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Jan Stephens moved to approve the minutes of February 28, 2008. Harold
Strandberg seconded the motion, motion carried.
COMMUNITY COMMENTS None
REPORTS
ASB Representative Brice Zerck, Sgt. at Arms:ASB has been busy
approving fundraising, arranging elections for next year and Prom.
Principal
---LID day went
well at Mary Walker on March 14th.
---High School Reading and Writing WASL’s are done.
---End of 3rd Quarter is April 10th.
---April 14th thru May 2nd is the WASL window for grades
3,4,5,6,7,8,10,11 and 12.
---AP exams will be in May, Bonnie Grumbach will be monitoring.
---Congratulations to Austin Mannick, Washington State Boys 1B player of the
year.
---6th Grade Math is Cool placed 7th out of 18. Caroline
Pooré
is the advisor.
---4th grade Math is Cool will be competing March 28th,
the 5th graders will compete in April.
Superintendent
---We had a bus break down by the Malo Trading Post. The new bus is on the road
now.
---Teena McDonald sent a thank you for sharing with Republic a bus for the music
festival.
---Safe Routes to School – Joy Osterburg was here from Ferry County to talk with
Steve about walkways and widening the road.
---Brett and Steve met with the Border Patrol on emergency procedures.
---We purchased another school car for $3,300.00 from state surplus.
---The mileage rate has increased to .505˘
per mile.
---Mario D’Lerma broke his leg in 3 places. He had an accident on the baseball
field.
Financial Report
Enrollment for March is 214.34 FTE without Parent Partnership, 10.55
FTE Parent Partnership.
Cash reserve is at $664,728.31.
Legislative Report
Steve gave the Legislative report.
BUSINESS
Jon Newman moved to approve the following bills and payroll for March, 2008.
General Fund Vouchers 8987 through 9067

Harold Strandberg seconded the motion, motion carried.
Contracts:
Harold Strandberg moved to approve a half year contract for Drama for Stuart
Mobley.Gretchen Halbach seconded the motion, motion carried.
2008/2009 School Calendar:
Gretchen
Halbach moved to approve a corrected draft of the 2008/2009 school calendar.
Jan Stephens seconded the motion, motion carried.
Superintendent Contract:
Jan Stephens
moved to approve an extended contract for 3 more years for Steve McCullough as
the Superintendent of Curlew School District. Gretchen Halbach seconded the
motion, motion carried.
WIAA:
Harold Strandberg moved to approve the School Board Resolution delegating
authority to WIAA. Jan Stephens seconded the motion, motion carried.
Healthy Youth Survey:
Jan Stephens moved to approve the state wide Healthy Youth Survey. Gretchen
Halbach seconded the motion, motion carried.
Volunteer Coaches:
Gretchen Halbach moved to approve Dylan Strandberg, Daniel D’Lerma and Billy
Somday as Volunteer coaches. Jan Stephens seconded the motion, motion carried.
Broker-Insurance Agent:
Jan Stephens
moved to approve going with AIA Insurance, Fred Lee agent, for school insurance
starting with the 2008-2009 school year. The board will revisit this issue
again next year. Gretchen Halbach seconded the motion, motion carried.
Policy Review:
---Jan Stephens moved to approve 1st and 2nd reading of
ESD 101 Special Education Cooperative, Special Education and related services
for eligible students. Harold Strandberg seconded the motion, motion carried.
---Jan Stephens moved to approve 1st reading of policy #2410, High
School graduation requirements. Gretchen Halbach seconded the motion, motion
carried.
---Jan Stephens moved to approve 2nd reading of the 5,000 series with
corrections. Harold Strandberg seconded the motion, motion carried.
Planning and Discussion
