Dear Parents and Students,
Walking through Walmart the third week of June, I was surprised to see back to school things out on the aisles. I told myself that this was much too soon and that an entire summer was still ahead of me. Now when I walk through the same aisles, I am not as able to explain away the imminent end to summer and start of another school year. With another year comes promise and many encouraging things going on at Curlew School. We look forward to seeing you soon on campus.
Our registration event is taking place on August 8th, 9th, and 10th in the school library. Thank you for stopping by the school and getting a head start on your child’s registration. By registering as many students as possible these three days, our seventh through twelfth grade assembly on the morning of the first day of school will go quicker and get kids in their classes more smoothly. Our elementary teachers will also benefit from having a more seamless start to things.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th. K-12 students begin at 8:10 AM and end at 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Students have early release every Friday at 1:30 PM, which allows for staff to work together on improving learning for our kids.
Enclosed in this packet, you will find a copy of our 2016-2017 school calendar, an application for free/reduced-price meals, information about our optional school insurance, in-lieu mileage forms, our district’s registration forms, locker assignments, and demographic forms. That’s a lot of paperwork, but we thank you in advance for completing both sides of all forms.
School meal prices remain the same this year as last: Preschool through sixth grade pays $1.50 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch. Seventh through twelfth grade pays $1.60 for breakfast and $3.00 for lunch, and adults pay $2.50 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch. Milk is included in meal purchases, but if a student purchases milk by itself, the cost is $.30.
The campus looks great after another summer of Penny and her crew shining things up and making beautiful upgrades to the school. Our instructional programs have been worked on this summer and staff looks forward to delivering the best education to be found anywhere for our Curlew Cougars.
Thank you for sending your child to Curlew School. We continue to feel honored to be a part of your child’s educational journey. If there are any questions that I can answer for you, please give me a call in the office at 779-4931 or just stop by anytime.
