    Dear Curlew School Families:

Our facilities crew has the school looking fantastic. Our teachers have spent hours together in professional development opportunities aimed at improving students’ experiences from elementary math and reading to middle and high school elective and core subject areas.  Our office staff have been updating and improving our procedures for another school year. All that we are missing is students to fill our hallways and classrooms.

Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 5th.  School starts at 8:10 and ends at 3:00 Monday through Thursday. Students are released on Fridays at 1:30 to allow our staff time together to work on the continuous improvement of our school.

Enclosed in this packet, you will find a copy of our 2017-2018 school calendar, an application for free/reduced-price meals, information about our optional school insurance, in-lieu mileage forms, registration forms, locker assignments, and demographic forms. We recognize that filling out both sides of these forms takes quite a bit of time. Please let us know if you have any questions about them.

School meal prices will remain the same this year. Preschool through sixth grade pays $1.50 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch. Seventh through twelfth grade pays $1.60 for breakfast and $3.00 for lunch, and adults pay $2.50 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch. Milk is included in meal purchases, but if a student purchases milk by itself, the cost is $.30.

We are excited to start another wonderful school year. Our classrooms are looking more and more complete. Our teaching and learning materials are the best available. Our staff, as you know, is the best around and our kids are the best to be found anywhere.

Curlew School thanks you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s educational journey. If there is anything we can do to improve your child’s learning experience, please stop by the office so that we can have a chat. We wish you all a calm last month of summer and eagerly await our Curlew Cougars to be in their classrooms soon enough.
